Our Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy Updates

Edit + Modify is built around a simple principle: your work, your device, your control. Our applications are designed to be free, accessible, and privacy-respecting. Wherever possible, Edit + Modify apps run locally on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac without requiring an account, login, subscription, or external service. We do not collect, sell, share, or monetise your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information Edit + Modify does and does not collect, how our applications work, and what choices you have.

  1. No Account Required

Edit + Modify applications do not require you to create an account. You can use our apps without providing your name, email address, phone number, profile information, or any other account-based identity. Where an app does not need an account to function, no account system will be included.

  1. Local-First by Design

Wherever possible, Edit + Modify applications run locally on your device. This means that files, edits, settings, preferences, and creative outputs are processed and stored on your own iPhone, iPad, or Mac rather than being sent to external servers. We believe software should respect the quiet boundary between your device and the wider internet. Your work should remain yours unless you choose to share it.

  1. We Do Not Collect Personal Data

Edit + Modify does not intentionally collect personal data from users. We do not collect:

Names
Email addresses
Phone numbers
Location data
Contacts
Photos or files, unless explicitly selected by you for use inside the app
Browsing history
Device content
Usage profiles
Advertising identifiers
Analytics for tracking individual users

We do not sell data. We do not share data with advertisers. We do not use your data to build marketing profiles. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

  1. Access to Files, Photos, or Device Features

Some Edit + Modify applications may need access to certain files, photos, media, folders, or device features in order to perform their core function. For example, an app may ask you to select an image, open a document, save an export, or access a local folder. When this happens: Access will only be requested when needed. You will be notified by the system or the app. You remain in control of what is selected or shared. The app will only use the selected content for the function you requested.
Content is not uploaded or transferred unless the app clearly explains that this is required. If permission is not necessary for the app to function, it will not be requested.

  1. When Information May Be Necessary

In rare cases, limited information may be required for an application feature to work. For example, this may include:

Saving app preferences locally
Remembering interface settings
Processing a file you have selected
Exporting a document
Using system-level services provided by Apple
Connecting to an external service only when that feature explicitly requires it

Where information is needed, we aim to make this clear. You should be notified and, wherever possible, given control over whether that feature is used.

  1. No Tracking or Advertising

Edit + Modify applications do not use advertising trackers.

We do not track you across apps or websites.
We do not use your activity for targeted advertising.
We do not create behavioural profiles.
We do not sell or rent user information.

Our apps are designed as tools, not surveillance systems.

  1. Analytics and Diagnostics

By default, Edit + Modify does not collect personal analytics from users.

Apple may provide developers with limited, aggregated, and anonymised diagnostic information through App Store Connect, such as crash reports or general app performance data. This information is provided by Apple and does not personally identify individual users to us.

If we ever introduce optional analytics within an Edit + Modify application, this will be clearly disclosed, limited in scope, and, where appropriate, controlled by the user.

  1. iCloud and Apple Services

Some applications may support Apple services such as iCloud, iCloud Drive, document storage, or system sharing features.

When you use these services, your data is handled according to your Apple settings and Apple’s own privacy practices. Edit + Modify does not control your iCloud account or Apple ID data.

Where iCloud or another Apple service is used, it is intended to support user-controlled storage, syncing, backup, or export.

  1. Third-Party Services

Edit + Modify applications avoid third-party services unless they are necessary for a specific feature.

If a third-party service is ever required, we will aim to explain:

What service is being used
Why it is needed
What information may be involved
Whether use of the feature is optional

We do not add third-party services for hidden tracking, advertising, or profiling.

  1. Children’s Privacy

Edit + Modify does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Because our applications do not require accounts and are designed to avoid personal data collection, we do not knowingly gather information from users of any age.

If a parent, guardian, or educator believes that personal information has been provided unintentionally, they may contact us using the details below.

  1. Data Retention

Because Edit + Modify does not intentionally collect personal data, we do not retain personal user data on our own servers.

Any files, projects, settings, or exports created in an Edit + Modify application are normally stored locally on your device or in storage locations you choose, such as iCloud Drive or another system-supported location.

You can delete locally stored content using the app, Finder, Files, or system settings, depending on the platform and application.

  1. User Control

You are in control of your data. You can:

Choose what files or media to open
Choose where to save or export work
Deny permissions that are not essential
Delete local files or app data
Remove the application from your device
Manage Apple permissions through iOS, iPadOS, or macOS settings

Edit + Modify applications are intended to support your creative and technical work without unnecessary interference.

  1. Transparency and Openness

Edit + Modify believes in transparency, openness, and respectful software.

We aim to make our applications understandable in how they work and clear about what they do. Privacy should not be hidden in obscure language or buried behind unnecessary complexity.

Where possible, we will explain important behaviours directly in the app, through documentation, or through this Privacy Policy.

  1. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, especially as Edit + Modify applications change or new features are introduced.

If changes are significant, we will aim to make them clear through the app, project website, App Store listing, or other appropriate communication channels.

The latest version of this Privacy Policy will apply from the effective date shown at the top of the document.

Tagline

Our mission is to reduce barriers to creativity by offering lightweight, focused tools that put the emphasis back where it belongs - on your creative expression.

About

The Edit and Modify project exists to create tools that empower everyone equally, without restriction. We deliberately design our applications to be free from the distractions of social media, unnecessary features, and comparative environments that can hinder creativity. These tools are built for everyone. We can create, distribute, and collaborate more easily than ever before but we firmly believe that your tools should enhance rather than interfere with your creative process.
